RDS has performed numerous studies for Arctic drilling facilities and this is an area of growing interest to oil companies. We have developed significant expertise in the specialist knowledge required to design for and to operate safely and efficiently in the harshest environments.
The Arctic Drilling and Design Best Practice Committee was formed in order to capture lessons learned from all of KCA Deutag's Arctic drilling operations and bring together the best RDS system designs from around the world.
The focus of the group is to identify best practices for Arctic rig design as well as identifying significant areas of improvement that can impact drilling operations and projects in extremely low temperatures.
The group develops standards, procedures and design guides to better support current operations and improve on global design efforts. The committee comprises our Greenfield office in Houston, Bentec rig designers, KCA Deutag drilling operations in Tyumen, Siberia and the RDS Brownfield Engineering team currently responsible for supporting the Harsh Environment operations of the North Sea and Sakhalin Island.
Together we are committed to a goal of maintaining and enhancing our position as world leaders in harsh environment and Arctic rig design. By ensuring that the rigs we design for tomorrow encompass all the lessons from our 126 years of experience, we can deliver safe, effective and trouble free operations in the toughest conditions.
